Dear Caring Adults,
Wow, the holiday season is already upon us! This time of year could be stressful due to the amount of money that many Caring Adults may feel so obligated to spend of course, with the intention of making sure that their Lovely Learners enjoy the holidays to the fullest.
There are a number of holidays that are celebrated around this time of year and from my observation, they each have a few things in common including gift exchanges and family/friend gatherings.
Whether your celebration of choice is Christmas, Kwanzaa or Winter Solstice – remembering the core reason of the season should be key and thus, reimagining ways to meaningfully partake without breaking the bank is sure to relieve some of that stress – your Lovely Learners will also benefit from this in the long run.
Here are a few cost-effective holiday ideas to assist with keeping the time of year meaningful and fun.
- Consider making gifts instead of buying them. Handmade gifts often carry more sentimental value and are a great way to stimulate the creativity of your Lovely Learners.
- If you’re hosting a holiday gathering, make it a potluck where each guest brings a dish. This not only spreads the cost but also adds variety to the menu and allows for an activity that Caring Adults and Lovely Learners can participate in together – your Lovely Learners can assist with making your homemade dish!
- The holidays are a great time to give back. Instead of spending money on gifts or activities, getting together with family or friends and volunteering as a group at a local charity or community event could be another amazing way to celebrate.
There is nothing more gratifying than spending time with loved ones and creating meaningful memories. Although we have been led to believe that extravagant spending is the way to go around this time of year, we can definitely skip the spending part and create the same types of memories. With a bit of creativity and planning, we can have a joyful and cost-effective holiday season, for sure.
Let’s see what other ideas you can come up with!
Until next time,
Be Love, Be Light!
~Ms. Love
